National Tidal & Sea Level Facility (NTSLF)

British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC) and Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory (POL) have set up a website with on-line UK tide gauge data from January 2000 onwards. The intention is to extend it backwards in time soon.

The website gives access to the following networks:

• UK tide gauge network. This network, run by the Tide Gauge Inspectorate, records tidal elevations at 44 locations around the UK coast.
• UK South Atlantic network. The ACCLAIM (Antarctic Circumpolar Current Levels by Altimetry and Island Measurements) programme in the South Atlantic and Southern Oceans consists of measurements from coastal tide gauges and bottom pressure stations, together with an ongoing research programme in satellite altimetry.
• A testing facility. The information contained in the test facility are intended for POL research engineers and may be technical in content, however you are free to view them.

The Marine Life Information Network (MarLIN) is an initiative of the Marine Biological Association of the UK in collaboration with major holders and users of marine biological information from around Britain and Ireland. MarLIN provides an interactive system improving access, display and interpretation of information in support of environmental management, protection and education.

Specifically MarLIN provides metadata of marine life surveys around Britain and Ireland and where permission is granted access to survey data. All data is also provided to the UK's National Biodiversity Network for which MarLIN is the marine focus.

In addition MarLIN provides information about marine species and biotopes, their biology and sensitivity to human and natural events.
